africa make boy, MAN!

January 17, 2017

Holy cow. This place is crazy... and I LOVE IT! Transfers came the other day and contrarary to popular belief, BOTH me and my companion have been transferred! I'm a city boy now! Just kidding... I am in Nairobi now though... It was nice for a day, then I started missing living in the bush again... I'm so happy that I got to serve in Chyulu though! That place will forever hold a spot in my heart! We worked our tails off in that area, and we left it with 8 investigators with a baptismal date! And if you knew Chyulu, then... WOW! but anyway, I don't have a lot of time today, but I love you all!
A little about my area, It's in downtown Nairobi, its a place called "Zimmerman" and I am definately in for QUITE the adventure here... I was made for the bush... the city is gonna change me... anyway, I'm sure they'll be good changes! I wish I had more time, but unfortunately I don't... but I love you all and I know that this church is SO stinkin true, its crazy! I'll have a beefier email next week!
With love...

What a Wild Ride

January 9, 2017

Well, this week has been better. Only by a little bit, but it has been better. This transfer is coming to a close. Next week I'll have a new companion, and I could possibly even be in a new area. Obviously I'm not sure whether or not I will stay, but to tell you the truth... 3 months in Chyulu is 3 months too long... just kidding... I think I may have just jinxed it... which kind of sucks... Anyway, Kenya is hard but good, more adventures to come. Every time I get into a matatu (basically a taxi-bus) I feel like I'm playing a terrible game of chicken. Either Kenyans don't know how to drive, OR Kenyans REALLY know how to drive. The area has been coming along and after 12 weeks we can finally see our progress! We have turned an area that was pretty much forsaken in terms of missionary work and flipped it into one of the most flourishing! It hasn't been easy. We have had to struggle with a lot of rejection, heart ache and prayer, but Nthongoni and Yumbuni are starting to make it! It feels good to see the change you have on people, and I am extremely grateful for the change you all have had on me. I have REALLY been struggling lately, with a lot of things, luckily I always told myself that I wouldn't do anything to slow the work, but I have really freakin' been struggling. I have felt the power of your prayers and fasts and I continue to press on. and I thank you for that. I really love you all.
